Things to Do in Bronte's Country

When it comes to visiting this special part of Yorkshire, there are a variety of different activities to choose from.

Walks:

Put on those walking boots and discover on foot what this area has to offer. Walk the streets of the village of Haworth and retrace the steps of the Bronte sisters.

Bronte Guided Walks- Guided walks are available around Haworth where you can get shown around the village and learn more about the life and times of the Bronte family. Guided walks can be booked before you travel and are offered by independent travel experts. The Bronte Parsonage Museum also runs a set timetable of guided walks.
   
There are a also guided walking tours available that focus on Haworth and other villages and cover the history of the milling industry.  Your choice of walk will depend on your interests and level of fitness.

Cycling:

For those who enjoy keeping fit, taking your bike with you and cycling around Bronte Country could be a great experience. Cycle routes in the area include the Aire Calder link but there are many quiet country lanes to discover as and when you choose.


Train Trips:

Take a ride on a steam or diesel train on the Keighley & Worth Valley railway and enjoy the scenery of Bronte country from the train.  This railway connects the towns of Keighley, Ingrow, Damems, Oakworth, Haworth and Oxenhope. Featured in the film the ‘Railway Children’, this line offers various special events including seasonal Santa Specials and Dining Trains.

You can buy a day Rover ticket which gives you the freedom to get on and off the train as many times as you want for that day.  Stop off at Stanbury, Keighley, Ingrow West, Oakworth, Haworth and Oxenhope then discover each town or village on foot.
